Journal · editorial development note 01

On line, movement and proportion.

The most persuasive tailoring is read first in motion: how a shoulder settles, how a coat holds its length and how a trouser meets the shoe.

Reading the silhouette

Presence is a matter of balance.

A garment can be precise without becoming rigid. A natural shoulder, controlled chest, measured waist and high-rise trouser work together only when movement remains easy.

01

The shoulder settles

The line from neck to sleeve should appear composed from front, profile and back.

02

Length carries authority

Jacket and coat length connect the torso to the trouser rather than dividing the figure.

03

The shoe completes the line

Rise, volume and break should resolve cleanly at the footwear.
